My4wd is an offline-first navigation aid for 4WD and overland travel, and it is free. There is no free week, no subscription, no payment, nothing to cancel and nothing to refund, and no account, licence key or card is needed to use it — now or at any point. These terms cover what the app is, what it does not promise, and where responsibility sits.
A map, a set of tracks and places, and some live conditions, delivered as files you download and keep, inside an app that needs no account and no licence key. The whole app is free, and stays free — there is no trial period, no subscription and nothing that renews, so there is no payment to make, no renewal to cancel and no refund question to ask. If that ever changes, it will be described here rather than introduced quietly, and it will not change for anybody already using it. And because the app works offline, there is no service level: a region can be corrected, rebuilt or temporarily unavailable, and the app will say so rather than pretend otherwise.
The data is not perfect, and it is not a navigation authority.
Places and tracks come from OpenStreetMap, which is contributed by volunteers. A grade can be wrong. A gate can be locked. A track can be washed out, overgrown, or closed for the season. Use My4wd for planning and for context — not as a substitute for your own judgement, local knowledge, road signs, or official closures.
You are responsible for your own trip, your vehicle, and the decisions you make. Off-road travel carries real risk, and no map removes it. Conditions change faster than any dataset does: a track that was a comfortable grade 4 last winter can be impassable after rain. If a route looks wrong on the ground, trust the ground.
Places, tracks and basemap data are © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License. Weather, sea state and sun times come from Open-Meteo under CC BY 4.0, and warnings come from the relevant authority. Attribution is shown in the app, and must be preserved if you redistribute the data.
The region-pack data is open and openly downloadable, and the app that makes it usable offline is free. There is no subscription to pay for. If you choose to chip in through the tip jar in the app, that is a voluntary contribution toward work already done: the button takes you to Buy Me a Coffee, which handles the payment on its own site. It is not a purchase, not a subscription, and not a licence to anything, because there is nothing to licence and nothing is withheld if you do not.
Some links in the app and on this site may be affiliate links. That is stated next to them: “Affiliate link – I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.” A commission never changes what gets recommended or how a place is ranked.
